My 5 top tips for making the perfect cupcake

What does everyone look for in a perfect cupcake? Springy, light texture? Tasty frosting?

Well here are my 5 amazing top tips when it comes to making the perfect cupcake:

1. Use room temperature ingredients

Having your ingredients at a similar temperature, ideally room temperature, will mean that it will be much easier to combine them together and create the perfect batter. I especially like to make sure that the butter is at room temperature. To achieve this take the butter out of the fridge and cut it into squares 20 minutes before you need to use it, or place it in the microwave for 10 seconds so it becomes softer. But remember if you are placing it in the microwave, DO NOT melt it!

2. Folding in the flour

When adding the flour, make sure to fold it in using a wooden spoon. Folding the flour will mean that the batter will trap the extra air, this will ensure that your cupcakes will be light and fluffy and taste a lot better. Trust me (judging from past experience).

3. Filling the cupcake liners 2/3 of the way

Filling the cupcake cases too much can only lead to disaster… overflowing mixture. This is why I suggest leaving room in the casing, so the cupcakes can rise. I recommend filling the cases 2/3 of the way to get the best result. To do this you can use an icre-cream scoop, or just eyeball it.IMG_5552

4. Cooling the cupcakes before decorating

Cooling the cupcakes after they have come out of the oven is key when it comes to decorating them. The cupcakes need to be completely cool before decorating in order to get the best result. If they are too hot, the icing will melt and slip off the cake making them look messy. To help the cupcakes cool down quicker, take them out of the pan after being taken out of the oven and place them on a cooling rack. To stop the icing melting after having been decorated store them in the fridge to keep the best texture.

5. Use fresh ingredients

Using fresh ingredients or good quality ingredients, will mean that you will end up with the best tasting cupcakes.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading my first blog, and that these tips have been useful to you. I also hoped that you have learnt something new about making successful, tasty cupcakes.
